is a family of frame-based computer networking technologies for local area networks (LANs). The name comes from the physical concept of the ether.


* Network topology: is the study of the arrangement or mapping of the elements (links, nodes, etc.) of a network, especially the physical (real) and logical (virtual) interconnections between nodes

Internet Protocol (IP): is a protocol used for communicating data across a packet-switched internetwork.

IEEE: The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers or IEEE (read eye-triple-e) is an international non-profit, professional organization for the advancement of technology related to electricity.


* Internetwork: involves connecting two or more distinct computer networks or network segments together to form an internetwork (often shortened to internet).


* Intranet:
is a private computer network that uses Internet protocols and network connectivity to securely share part of an organization's information or operations with its employees.


* Extranet: is a private network that uses Internet protocols, network connectivity, and possibly the public telecommunication system to securely share part of an organization's information or operations with suppliers, vendors, partners, customers or other businesses.


* Router:
is a computer whose software and hardware are usually tailored to the tasks of routing and forwarding information.
